    1. Re: [FTM-TECH] Returning to FTM 16 (was FTM-TECH Digest, Vol 8, Issue 43)

    3. I run FTM 2014 on under Windows 8.1 64-bit. Can you give us some background on why you are disgusted with FTM 2102? Are you experiencing some problems? Or isn't it running as fast as you want? Or do you just don't like the new look and feel of the user interface? You can run FTM 16 under Windows 7. Also FTM 2012 will not stop you from installing FTM 16. Many are running both FTM 16 and FTM 2008 - 2014. Both will be installed in different sub-folders in the Programs folder. It has been some time since I did anything with FTM 16 but as I recall the only way you can convert your FTM 2012 file back into FTM 16 is by exporting the file to a GEDCOM file. This is how you do it: 1. Open your file in FTM 2012. 2. Click File and select Export. 3. Ensure all options are checked EXCEPT for the "Make file private". 4. Click the down arrow in the Output format and select GEDCOM 5.5. 5. The Export to GEDCOM dialog box will open. 6. Accept the destination defaults which should be "FTM 16" and "ANSI". 7. This should produce a GEDCOM file which can be imported into FTM 16. I hope this answers your question. BJ On 2/10/2014 3:09 PM, [email protected] wrote: > I'm curious.
