Perhaps the following message will answer this question. I received it in March 2013. Allie Subject: Welcome to the new Messages feature Messages Team Mar 11 11:48 PM GMT Introducing a better way to connect with the Ancestry.com Community. Did you know Ancestry.com has the world’s largest online community dedicated to family history? Our members help each other make new discoveries every day. Find others researching your family. Connect privately and conveniently. The further you follow your story back in time, the more likely you are to find other members who have ancestors in common with you. The new Messages feature is a great way to connect with these people. (This feature replaces the email-based Ancestry.com Connection Service, which we’ve now discontinued.) Here’s how to get started: Access your messages any time. Simply click on the Messages link at the top of any Ancestry.com page. Complete your public profile. Share a little information about your family history research so members of the community can tell if your interests or families might overlap. Don’t worry, your Ancesry.com username will be the only name shown unless you choose to add more personal details to your profile. Complete your profile. Look out for new messages. They’ll appear in your Ancestry.com Messages inbox — just as they would in an email program. You can read and reply to messages and create folders for saving and organizing messages. Unless you choose to share it, your actual email address will remain private since all communications will take place on Ancestry.com. Find members who can help. All members registered with Ancestry.com can view and reply to messages received from others, whether you have a paid membership or not. Paid members can also click on the Contact link for other members they find throughout the site and initiate contact with them. Find member connections. We’re excited to introduce the new Messages feature. We hope it brings you closer to your family story — and the Ancestry.com community. Thanks, The Ancestry.com Messages Team Learn more about Messages on Ancestry.com. Share your thoughts on the Ancestry.com blog. Please note: We use this profile just to send this welcome message to members new to our online Messages. If you reply to this message we won't be able to reply to you.
Hi Allie That is the same message I posted about previously Some are saying they have received email alerts since then (I haven't) and when I phoned Ancestry they say the email alerts should still be working and they know there is a problem and are looking at it I suspect the left hand has no idea what the right hand has done and they have done away with email alerts, hence the wording in the message from March 2013 But all we can do is await the outcome of Ancestrys investigation I shall not be holding my breath whilst waiting Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 02/03/2014 21:55, Allie wrote: > Perhaps the following message will answer this question.
