    3. OK, a couple comments: I understand the desire to incorporate the house number and street address into the Place name; however, you need to understand - that will create a unique entry for each house number and street in your list of Place names. Personally, I think creates too many unique place names with very little benefit. I normally want the place names to reflect a group. Therefore, I will enter the Cemetery name along with the place name. In most instances, I will have multiple facts associated with a given cemetery. If you do not use the hierarchical listing, you will wind up with one listing for every house number street combination. Even if you use the hierarchical listing, the place names will be grouped under the Country name, State name, County name, City name with one entry for each house number street address combination. Again that tends to be too many for me to browse through efficiently. So I tend to enter the house number street address in the fact Description field. This keeps my place names to a more manageable list making it easier to use Fast Find in the Place Names. One of the things I dislike about FTM - they automatically generate a Residence fact for almost everything, Census, Draft Records, etc. I prefer to distinguish between the types of records so I change the fact names to what I consider a more appropriate and descriptive Fact. Many of the later Census records contain the house number and street address for the family. In those instances, I create two records. One for the Census record itself and then a separate Residence fact for the house number and street address. For the Census Fact I record the Post Office and/or the Precinct information in the Place Description field. For the Residence Fact, I record the house number and street address in the Place Description field. Although it doesn't have the normal appearance for an address, it reduces the number of Place names as I explained previously. Now as to your question about detailed instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling FTM. Frankly, I don't remember writing a single consolidated list of recommendations. I attempted to search the archives but couldn't find one. That said, here is what I normally do. * First I recommend you ensure your data files are backed up and in a safe place. I keep mine in folders separate from the Program installation folders and if possible on separate hard disks. This is done so that I don't accidentally delete them during the uninstall process. * I always use a good uninstall program. The one I use is Revo Uninstaller. They provide a free application which I find very useful. I use it because it tends to get rid of files and registry entries normally forgotten or left by the application's uninstall feature. You can find it via a google search. * If you really want to ensure you remove all vestiges of the program, you can go to the folder Windows normally installs applications. I don't remember whether Windows 7 uses separate folders for the 32-bit applications an another folder for the 64-bit applications or not. These are normally found on the C: drive. If you open the Program folder, you should find a folder for FTM. You can delete that folder and that normally gets everything. * Occasionally, problems may be caused by a corrupted User.config file. This is the replacement for the old FTW.INI file and keeps track of housekeeping information including the list of your data files, the last file opened as well as the location and size of the FTM window. Normally, I leave this alone unless it is absolutely necessary. If you need to find it, it is found in C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Local\Ancestry.com\FTM.exe_StrongNarr\22.0.0.1345 The file is User.config. FTM installation creates a new folder and User.config file; however, if it find an older version, it copies the information from the older file into the new file. Unfortunately, it does not remove the folders and files for the older versions, so you often find them going back for a number or versions. You can delete the older folders without creating any problems. If FTM installation doesn't find an older copy to use, it creates a user.config using its default parameters. When that happens you will have to use FTM to browse and find your old data bases. * Once you have successfully uninstalled FTM, you can reinstall FTM 2014. Hope this helps.
