It presents a list of parents so you can select the couple to consider as "preferred." For example, if you are following the line of an adopted person, you have two lines you can follow, the biological line or the adoptive line. Depending on your intentions, you may want the biological parents to always be listed as the person's parents. The following table describes the options in the Preferred Parents dialog box. Options Description Select preferred parents Lists all of the parental relationships available for the person. Update pedigree now Updates the pedigree to show the person as a child to the preferred parents. To open the Preferred Parents dialog box: Click People > Person > Relationships > select the person in the Pedigree Navigation Bar > select a father or mother in the Relationships view > Change. I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. In one or two instances I found the children were not shown as having a parent. However, when I went to the parent, all the children were there.
