Beth, Yes, you want to Register FTM2012 on the New Computer. Yes, you can use both of them. You want to Back Up your FTM2012 files and move them to the New Computer and do a File, Restore. To move between two computers, you can use a Thumb / Flash / USB drive to do  so, or a program like Drop Box. If you know how to use FTM2012 you know how to use FTM2014, but there will be more features that you will have access to. I plan to upgrade to 2014 in a few months, but don't want to learn a new program as I am now learning so many new and upgraded programs on the new machine.
