Hi All, I didn't know you could resolve place names like that. Thanks BJ. So I thought I would resolve mine from the place name index as that would be quicker. But when I have resolved 5 or 6 the program freezes. A window pops up saying "Family Tree Maker 2014 has stopped working. Windows will close the program and notify you when the problem is resolved" (or something very similar). So far it has happened twice and when I reopen the program of course it has lost my changes. Yes I could go back to the backup I made after 3 changes but I can't, practically, backup after every 3 changes. (And Windows hasn't notified me of any resolution.) I did compact my file after each crash. I am using Windows7. I have noticed that with FTM open I am using 64% of my physical memory. Could the problem be there and what do I do about it given that FTM is the largest slice of that. But it is only using 180 MB, the rest of what I can see using about 360 MB and I have 2.75 GB RAM. So a lot seems to be going to other things and I don't know how to look at that or even if I need to. I have plenty of disc space. Any help gratefully received. Christine
