    3. One of the main complaint of users converting from earlier versions of FTM to FTM 20xx programs has been the difference between the displays. Many think the display in FTM 2011 is too complicated. As a result, the developers decided to try to make it less daunting to people converting. So when the installation program detects the user is installing using a FTM 16 file, it automatically collapses the left hand panel (index). So to switch between the "faux" FTM 16 look and the FTM 2012 look, simply click the arrow at the top of the left panel or you can click and drag using the series of dots about mid level on the left of the panel. I'm sure the John D like many others who answer provide more information than may be necessary for the current question because we recognize there are many who lurk on the list with various levels of expertise. We attempt to provide sufficient guidance so the less experienced will gain a better understanding of the program and the questions being answered.
