    3. John - don't worry. I always delete the old tree. I have relatives that have five and six trees that are so old, outdated, full of incorrect information, but they refuse to delete them for some odd reason. Thanks for your input; at least I know I'm on the right track and doing it correctly. You have to upload as a new tree. A plea. Please delete your old tree. The AMT is full of obsolete trees where folk have uploaded a new one, but have left the old one there which simply results in additional and unnecessary leaf hints'' If you are using FTM 2012 and plan to use TreeSync, then if you choose automatic sync the tree will sync on loading and closing down or of course you can sync at any time. If you choose manual it is up to you to press the sync now button John D Sent: Saturday, 29 October 2011 1:49 AM Subject: [FTM-TECH] Online Tree Updates This is a strange question but I have no idea and thought you all would be my best resource for correct information. It involves uploading trees. How often should we upload a new tree OR is there a way to simply upload the additions, edits, etc.? I understand that I can make changes to my tree in FTM but I also upload it to Ancestry. I don't have the extra time to make changes in two places, one online and one on my desktop. I don't care to have several trees online so what I've been doing is deleting my old tree and then uploading a new tree. I wondered if uploading a new tree using the same name would overwrite an existing tree. I guess you can deduce I'm still fairly new at this online tree stuff, but so many of my relatives have found the info so helpful, I hate not to keep the most up to date info available to them. ********************************** List information page http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Software/FTM-TECH.html Online Support for Family Tree Maker Version 16 and earlier http://pastftm.custhelp.com/ Version 2008 - 2011 http://ftm.custhelp.com/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to FTM-TECH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
