    3. Patti, I've tried several of the ones available. I currently have FamViewer, Gedview, and Shrubs (in addition to the Ancestry app). I've never really gotten any use out of Shrubs, because if I recall correctly, it won't accept a Gedcom as large as mine, but I don't recall whether the limit was on the number of people, or the number of bytes. Looking at the screens, I think I've probably used FamViewer more often than GedView. One thing I don't like about any of the ones I've used so far is that they all require Gedcom's. I used to use a Palm device, and really loved GedStar Pro, which could directly import from FTM. I'd love to be able to have that same functionality for the iPhone, but it was based on the GenBridge technology created by Wholly Genes, which I gather is not compatible with the Apple devices. I once contacted the creator of GedStar Pro to ask him if he'd ever considered making that program compatible with the iPhone. He told me that he was no longer making any further developments on GedStar Pro at all (it was a hobby which he had moved away from), and had no plans to port it to the iPhone. I'm getting ready to refresh the data in both FamViewer and GedView, so will write back if I encounter any snags. I should probably mention that I'm still using FTM Version 16. -- Mary On 7/31/2011 3:51 PM, Patricia Olsson wrote: > While we are talking about other programs, > > I have an iPhone and it would be wonderful to have my file loaded on it so > that I could take only my phone while doing research. There is an Android version of GedStar Pro now!
