The trouble with the busy icon appearing on the list of individuals when you put a new source in a large database hasn't been fixed. I tried it about ten minutes ago and it's still spinning. Don't see that with my file. 16,500 individuals may not be as large as yours, but I don't see any rebuilding of the index.
