    3. This probably happened in earlier versions too, but just to place a stick in the mud: I just ran a Data Errors Report on my 1700 person file. Among the many things were: three "The marriage occurred after the spouse's death" and one "The birth date occurred after his/her father was 80". Spending the time to check these four out, NONE were in fact true. What was true is that these people had multiple spouses, and the error checking code is defective in that it did not understand that. It sure does give me pause about the code quality. Also, I found several instances of a person seemingly dangling with no parents, no children, and at a quick glance, no spouse. Closer inspection showed them with one spouse, but no spouse preferred, so it looked like no spouse. I had to manually select their ONLY spouse as preferred. I would think that any time a person had one spouse, it would be the preferred spouse, by default. Yes? If I were writing the code, I'd insist on that. It is a bit off putting to see a blank spouse on the screen, yet when one looks, one finds one that can be selected. (again, this bug was probably in the previous version). Next, I'll see if the merge I did with 3 files still creates "shadow" children that are in the tree once, as I recall, but appear as multiples (one for each file they came from) in the children list. A GEDCOM export, as I recall, showed them once each, but with multiple child linkages. Thus the duplicates in the children window. I tried to explain this to customer service, and they were unable to grasp the facts. I had to give up on them. If such a merge problem sounds familiar, I'm all ears. If not, I'll be trying to duplicate it with this version and will post my results. But it may take me days, weeks, or months to find the time to get to it again. John
