I find it humorous how those of us here on the list do things differently. I suggested sending a GEDCOM file through WorldConnect where one can filter the file to display as you wish. Inhibiting NOTE creates a displayed file without the note data. If one enables downloading of the entire file, one could upload a GEDCOM, filter it online and download the filtered version and have the notes, and anything else that is filtered, no longer in the file. My 70M GED comes back at about 23M when I filter it as I configure WorldConnect. That 23M file is what I send to Ancestry.com for display. As an aside, I find it PAINFUL to update my filtered GEDCOM to Ancestry.com. (On the other hand, I do have an unexpurgated file on Ancestry.com - sent up from 2012, but Private.) The pain is that so far, I only know how to get Ancestry.com to accept a NEW .ged each time, rather than merely uploading a new file to the same tree name. I upload the tree and for a little while, have 2 trees of identical name. I cut & paste the text I use to describe my file from the old one to the new, and then delete the old tree. I would be MOST open to pointers as to how to simplify that operation!!! I considered using 2012 to do the transfer, but have not chosen to do so at this time. John Okerson Memphis, TN
I have been out all day and as I have been reading this thread I was planning on suggesting the same thing! My Gedcom at WorldConnect does not have the notes. Downloading that Gedcom would then give me a file free of all notes. Now, the other thing that has not been mentioned that ONLY the tee owner and any invited guests can actually see the notes on any AMT. Of course I skimmed through some of these messages so may have missed that mention.
