Linda, I know the PNA does not go to street level. I used a place name containing a street name to show that the PNA does recognise the next level down (town / city), which it suggests as an alternative, but that when I then enter the place name at that level (town / city) it fails to recognise it and suggests changing to a place name at the next level down (county). Where this happens, I can find the correct town / city name by searching for it within the PNA, so why doesn't it recognise it straight away? Yes, if you want places to match with the PNA, you have to put street names and other place detail in the description field. Personally I would never do that, even if the PNA was a lot better tool for UK places than it currently is. For example, my database contains 355 separate places and addresses in London - the largest city in the world in the 19th century. I certainly don't want them all lumped together in the places section of my website, on maps or in reports. Most names in my database are not historic but the PNA still does not recognise many of them. It has never heard of Kanturk or Mitchelstown in Co Cork, Ireland. For Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales, it gives you a choice between "Merthyr Tudful, Glamorgan, Wales" or "Merthyr Tydfil, Wales", neither of which is correct. There are many more examples but I won't go on.
