    1. Re: [FTM-TECH] Question: Privatizing "Notes" with FTM 2012
    2. There is an easy way to get rid of notes. 1) Make a copy of the GEDCOM 2) Open the COPY in Notepad or another TEXT EDITOR(not a word processing program). 3) Use Find/Replace and find "1 Note" ( without quotes) , leave the Replace with blank, click Replace ALL. 4) Save file as a text file with the name "NoNotes.ged". Use the NoNotes.ged to upload your data. -----Original Message----- From: Cynthia Whittington Low <cindersturn@aol.com> To: ftm-tech <ftm-tech@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thu, Dec 1, 2011 3:51 pm Subject: [FTM-TECH] Question: Privatizing "Notes" with FTM 2012 Right now I'm using FTM 16, and waiting for my FTM 2012 to arrive. I want to be able to upload a gedcom without the "notes", can this be done with FTM 2012?? I tried uploading two gedcom's this week, for the first time, and all my notes showed up. If FTM 2012 doesn't allow a gedcom upload excluding the "note section", can someone advise of a program that will allow me to do an upload minus the note section. I used both FTM 16 and Family Tree Builder, neither of those programs have an option to NOT include the note section. Right now, I have 14,000 plus people in my tree, my best guess would be at least half have extensive notes. So, it's not even practical for me to go back and take them out at this point.
