I have about 67,519 people, 24,296 marriages, and 439 media items in my database, and I have a new computer. I have mainly noted this problem when adding sources. Why... I don't know what sources have to do with the index. Sometimes the sorting never gets completed or completes with the busy icon still there, and I have to shut down and come back up. Most of the time I just work on, and if I have to search for somebody I have found a "work around". I can go to the person tab then click on "index of individuals" after a minute or so a window will come up with the index, and I can search and go to a particular person in my database. But it takes time and patience. Other than this problem with the index, FTM 2012 works faster than previous ones, but the problem with the index is aggravating. Susan -- --- Susan C. Stray thought - try tools, options, turn off/uncheck the "check for program updates ..." and the "search online automatically....
