I think I would uninstall FTM 2011. In fact I would take it a step further and use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall FTM 2011. Once I have it uninstalled, I would open the installation folder, right click on the setup.exe program and select "Run as Administrator". See if that works. Also try having your friend, open FTM 2005 and open the file. See if there is a problem. If the file opened, I would use FTM 2005 to compact the file before attempting to install FTM 2011.
