This way you will not have the GEDCOM mess, should not lose any data. Dorothy - I agree with David, use your .ftw file for the import, NOT a .ged. That being said, you would do well to copy the .ftw to a different location so that IF you wish to, you could use FTM 16 and its file while FTM 2011 is doing its import. On my computer and with my 130K person file, it takes 2012 about 2 hours to complete the import. Some folks have reported loosing their entire file, so PLEASE have at least one backup before you start!!!! John Okerson Memphis, TN
