    3. Are you sure that it is hung or are you NOT waiting long enough for it to update? Try compacting the file once you get it opened, before doing anything else. I do NOT allow myself to have any large databases, but the larger ones that I do have, the Index does do a lot of sorting. I have to shut down FTM and start all over. It resorts but doesn't get hung up when I start FTM, what's happening here with the sources? I do have a rather large database about 70,000 people, but I just got a new computer last week. FTM 2011 with the old computer was slower than 2012 with the new computer, but people didn't get resorted when I put a new source in. Anyone have any answers out there. Susan -- --- Susan C. 3. IIRC, Previous posts on this list noted that the sorting occurs because the user has "automatic" set for synchronizing with the Ancestry Member Tree, rather than "manual" syncing. To select "Manual" go to the "Plan" workspace, and click on the dropdown menu for "Sync Now" and select "Update Options" and check the "Manually" button for the "Update linked trees." Good luck -- Randy On 11/5/2011 9:22 AM, David C Abernathy wrote: > Are you sure that it is hung or are you NOT waiting long enough for it to > update? > > Try compacting the file once you get it opened, before doing anything else. > > I do NOT allow myself to have any large databases, but the larger ones that > I do have, the Index does do a lot of sorting. > > Thanks, > David C Abernathy > Email disclaimers > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This message represents the official view of the voices in my head. > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.SchmeckAbernathy.com > == All outgoing and incoming mail is scanned by F-Prot Antivirus == > > > -----Original Message----- > From: ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com] > On Behalf Of Susan Johanson > Sent: Saturday, November 05, 2011 9:10 AM > To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com > Subject: [FTM-TECH] List of individuals > > I have FTM 2012, and every time I put a new source in my database, the list > of individuals starts resorting and gets hung up.
