I am using FTM 2001 and I know the backup is being created because the task being attempted my me was to BACKUP File via FTM. But FTM crashed and said it failed to backup, when in fact it did create a backup because I looked at my folder where the files are located. Then after that I rebooted FTM up and it said I might need to compress my file because it didn't close properly (I agree because I saw it crash while attempting at my request to BACKUP itself.) At booting FTM up again it said that I might need to compress the file. I compressed it several times until 0% compression occurred. I can use the database but everytime I try to Backup the file, the same thing happens again ... crash & burn, get the same error messages, compress and use the file. My questions are: why do I crash FTM when using the Backup request from the drop down menu why does FTM say failed to backup and I need to compress, when there exists a new backup file of the proper size when I check the directory Thanks Ken > Date: Wed, 23 Nov 2011 15:08:07 -0800 > From: bhamilton3@cox.net > To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [FTM-TECH] FTM CRASHES > > If you are talking about FTM 2008 or later, the compact option has an > option whether to create a backup before compacting. I compress it till there is 0% compression, but I notice that there is in fact a new backup file that was created.
