    3. window 7 Ricci 2011 1021 doesn't seem long. Used that structure for years. No clue what I was doing. It happened a while back and I ignore it. Probably when I had to restart computer for who knows what reason. I am not consciously using DOS. I renamed the file and then erased it and so far it is keeping Ricci 2011 1012 On 11/7/2011 10:18 AM, David C Abernathy wrote: > More information would be helpful? > > What OS are you using? > Looks like you are using long file names and then using DOS to list the file > folder listing? > What were you doing when the file name got changed? > > Thanks, > David C Abernathy > Email disclaimers > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This message represents the official view of the voices in my head. > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.SchmeckAbernathy.com > == All outgoing and incoming mail is scanned by F-Prot Antivirus == > > > -----Original Message----- > From: ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com] > On Behalf Of pat ricci > Sent: Sunday, November 06, 2011 6:17 PM > To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com > Subject: [FTM-TECH] FTM 2006 changed my file name > > Ricci 2011 1021 became RI70CE~1 > weird. 3. Pat, As I recall, this happens when you open a Back-up file. When you open any Back-up file, FTM will offer you the opportunity to rename the file but if you do not then it will come up with these unusual names like the one you now have for your file. You can just browse to the file in Explorer and rename the file. Then open FTM 2006. If it was the last opened file before closing the program, FTM will likely say that it cannot locate the file. Click to browse for the file and open it. If it was not the last file open in FTM, then just go to File and then click on Open, browse to the newly named file and click to Open. I just tried it and it works just fine. 3. On the older systems and within DOS anything longer than the 8+3 is considered long.
