I don't know if this particular instance has been mentioned, but I was just working with the Manage Facts option and when I had finished making changes, the index blanked out for a short time, the whirling icon appeared and then the index returned. I'm hoping that someone who has a real connection to Ancestry.com is reporting these things to Ancestry so that something can be done about it. I should mention that I have Synce set to manual. Tom With 2011, the index operation was changed and improved When the index loads it first sorts the names in alpha Then, and this is the new and useful bit, it sorts the same names in DOB order. That is what is happening when you see the whirling icon. The benefit is that if you have [say] 10 people all with the name Tom Smith they will be sorted in DOB order. So yes, there is a slight delay to run the second sort, but the index list is much better for the two-level sort John D -----Original Message----- From: ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of TH Sent: Monday, 7 November 2011 1:19 AM To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com Subject: [FTM-TECH] Another Odd Connection to the Index I don't know if this particular instance has been mentioned, but I was just working with the Manage Facts option and when I had finished making changes, the index blanked out for a short time, the whirling icon appeared and then the index returned.
