    2. I have had a similar situation occurring at times. FTM 2010, version 19.0.0.206 on Windows XP. Seems to only occur when I have something running in the background or I switch screens. If you can close everything else out before trying to back-up, it may help Mark Moeser In a message dated 11/24/2011 3:02:59 A.M. But FTM crashed and said it failed to backup, when in fact it did create a backup because I looked at my folder where the files are located. Then after that I rebooted FTM up and it said I might need to compress my file because it didn't close properly (I agree because I saw it crash while attempting at my request to BACKUP itself.) At booting FTM up again it said that I might need to compress the file. I compressed it several times until 0% compression occurred. I can use the database but everytime I try to Backup the file, the same thing happens again ... crash & burn, get the same error messages, compress and use the file. My questions are: why do I crash FTM when using the Backup request from the drop down menu why does FTM say failed to backup and I need to compress, when there exists a new backup file of the proper size when I check the directory Thanks Ken

IF you have that sort of problem again, would you try using the instructions I sent out yesterday, please? I have 2 Windows XP SP3 machines, but the only one that has FTM 2009 has 4 MB of RAM, not the normal 2 MB most folks have with XP machines. John
