I think it is just too big for my computer. If it did not load the Multimedia Files, maybe it would work. My Legacy Family Tree program just load the path to the media files. Is it possible that FTM has that ability also? What is the size of your file and how many media items do you have? What is your computer OS (XP, Vista, Windows 7)? How much RAM (memory) do you have and how much free space on your hard drive? Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing FTM 2011? My Legacy Family Tree program just load the path to the media files. Is it possible that FTM has that ability also? If you have your data in another program and then create a GEDCOM from said program, you create what can be imported into current versions of Family Tree Maker. A GEDCOM generally does NOT contain media files, so importing from a .ged should create a less complex file and hopefully THAT would allow your computer to "work". lloyd Unfortunately FTM does need export the Media links in its gedcoms. I would say if you want to continue to run FTM you need a new machine. However, if your datafile is the size you say, you will still have problems.
