I had a thought and switched out of Windows to MacOS. The normal method of saving(as opposed to merging) from Ancestry does not apply in MacOS and if you select Save you are told instead to right click. No save on SAR, yes, but right click still works. Doesn't work with Windows though. Tony On 01/08/2011 14:45, "John Boyd" <johnhboyd@earthlink.net> wrote: > 1. Ancestry are promoting their app for these units, but how do one connect to an allready existing tree at Ancestry.com? There should not be a need of typing in 5.500 individuals names and facts and photos once again - or? Ole P. Ole, you log in on your iDevice using your Ancestry.com User ID and Password. It then links you with as many trees as you have uploaded. It will also link with trees that others have shared with you. I love using it. It's great for traveling to libraries, etc. All your data is at your fingertips, including your sources. Ole, It accesses your online tree at Ancestry.com, and downloads it to your device. It takes forever to load my tree - I just tested it with my new tree, uploaded to Ancestry.com last week. Almost a half hour to download 9200 people, then another almost hour of "processing" before it's ready to use. I'm not sure if that's "normal", or just my tree. (I just tested with a much smaller tree (273 people), and the loading and processing zipped along.) The nice thing is the app syncs with your online tree when you open it. I never update my tree on Ancestry.com - I work in FTM and upload a brand-new tree periodically - but I can see how, for someone who does work directly in an online tree, that would be an excellent feature. Once it's loaded, the app's got a pretty cool user interface, easy to navigate, with sources available at a tap of your finger. Hi Mark, But how do you access it (your tree) from within the Ancestry.com app on the iPhone? Ole P.
