    3. FTM 2011 does not import the images. Instead it links to an external media file. It then generates a thumbnail of the image and this is what you see in the Collection view. When adding a media item, you have two options. 1. You can link to the media file in its original location. 2. You can have FTM make a copy of the media file and store that copy in its Media folder. Even then the file is external to the data base. If you look at the Media Collection work area, you will see two entries in the right pane; the file name and below it the path to the linked media file. As has been suggested, if you have a GEDCOM file, you can create a new data file using it. This new files will not have any media items. At this point, I think your only choice is to restore your file from the latest backup file. Sorry I can't be of more help. 3. My problem is IE crashing constantly throughout the day. I cannot find it to delete it permanently. I understand this is because it comes along with Windows. I am now using Firefox but every once in a while IE shows up to ruin whatever it is I am doing. I apologize if this is not the correct place to ask this question. Ali

    3. You need to change Firefox to be your default browser under Default Programs.
