Version 6.0 [Build 6001: Service Pack 1] I do not know about IE. I thought I had deleted it there but it still raises its ugly head when I try to open something new. I cannot find it in the control panel so can't figure why it keeps showing up. Then someone told me IE is part and parcel of my Windows program and I cannot get rid of it. If that is true then there must be a way I can at least turn it off. I made Firefox my default browser but for some reason IE over rides it. ----- Original Message ----- From: John Okerson To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, August 12, 2011 3:34 PM Subject: [FTM-TECH] IE Crashing > My problem is IE crashing constantly throughout the day. Yes, IE is part of Windows and cannot be deleted. Go to Default Programs from the Start menu and select Firefox for your default browser. If the problem is that you are using the web search in FTM and it's opening in IE then the icon with the down arrow next to where it says Address and has the URL, there is an option to open in a New Window and that should use your default browser - in this case Firefox. By default it seems FTM will use IE unless you use the Open In New Window option. If that is true then there must be a way I can at least turn it off. Normally, Internet Explorer can be turned OFF by going to Start, Control Panel, Programs, Programs & Features, Turn Windows features on or off and then unchecking the box labeled Internet Explorer X where X is a number, 9 in my case with Windows 7 Professional SP1. Give it a whirl to see IF your system has something similar. Good hunting!
