    3. When I upload a FTM 2012 file to Ancestry.com, I make sure that at that time I select the manual syncing option. I also at that time make the tree "Private" until I have checked the online version to be in the manner that I want it to be. I also will do a couple of minor changes in the Ancestry Member Tree (AMT) and FTM and then do a manual sync. If it passes then I might make the AMT public. NOTE: also, I do NOT use very many media files as they are pretty useless outside of FTM, this goes for any program that uses media.     3. David, My Ancestry tree is *always* kept private in self defence against the morons who hoover up everyone else's data and add it to their totally unrelated lines. I share my data freely on my own website but people have to be intelligent enough to use Google to find that and no downloading is allowed.
