AMT - Ancestry Member Tree - submitted by users AWT - Ancestry - pretty sure these are the original trees submitted to Ancestry early on and those currently submitted to WC. The world connect tree is not actually on Ancestry, they just link to it. OWT - on Ancestry - combination of trees submitted to Ancestry & Rootsweb, and I suspect trees from the old World Family Tree (WFT) disks made by Broderbund who at one time owned Family Tree Maker (FTW or FTM) WC - Roostweb World Connect Project - submitted by users WFT disks - World Family Tree CD roms produced by Broderbund. I was once told by a tech of theirs that Source info was not included when the trees went on to the disks. Early ones might not have much source info because the early program didn't have that ability. Unfortunately, a lot of these trees don't have any source info as to what/where/when they came from. If they did have source info, they could be much more useful. If I did merge someone from an AMT, the source it adds is just that - "from an AMT", not even showing which AMT. Pretty much useless. IMHO, the very early WFT Disks may be the best source for decent info, because they were made before random genealogy info was all over the internet being copied & merged willy-nilly, so most likely to have information that was researched by the submitter or a cousin of theirs who shared it with them.
