    3. You can still enter the old locations. Just tell FTM to ignore the flag. I do that frequently here is the US. West Virginia wasn't established until beginning of the Civil War (1862), so birth locations originally in Virginia are now shown as West Virginia. I just tell FTM to ignore the rules. FTM is not the only place that is using modern places only. Find A Grave is doing so also. You cannot enter a town name if it no longer exists. And you cannot use old locations as stated in census info. One example. Many towns that were in the county of Kent are now in the Greater London area in England and if you want to enter Kent as the county you will not be able to enter the town. To enter the town you have to use Greater London. Annie in Minnesota
