And it would be nice to have a choice for when only one given name is used and you want it to be the middle instead of the first. For example what if your name is Patricia Eileen Smith and you are called Eileen, not Patricia. I wish you could choose for Eileen to be used in the parts of reports where they only use one name. Lots of people go by their middle names. -----Original Message----- From: ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of John Yates Sent: Friday, July 15, 2011 7:08 PM To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FTM-TECH] Suggested entry fields On 7/15/2011 2:15 PM, Linda H Gutierrez wrote: > On the People>Family view, in the Right Hand panel, click in the name field. > A pencil icon appears. Click on that and the edit name dialog box opens. Aha! I never noticed the pencil before. But this only allows two name fields (ignoring suffix). Three are really needed, as in the example I gave. But when I click on an Address field, no pencil appears for me. It should, and it should display the individual field values in the various fields. Like City, County, etc. So we can finally see what database field our information is parsed into. How do people decide if Monroe, State is Monroe, State or Monroe Co., State? (and formally may be Monroe, Monroe, State. And consistent with blog entry URL that says the most general address form requires 12 fields, all 12 fields should appear with individual boxes. http://www.endswithsaurus.com/2009/07/lesson-in-address-storage.html I'll leave out the next logical extension of this, which is to Source Reference fields. That is covered in the URL I mentioned. Gotta walk before it can run... http://jytangledweb.org/genealogy/model/ [went back and put the URLs in the message body above for ease of reference. Me too. Sometimes it is hard to find an individual when they were known by the middle name. -----Original Message----- From: ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of LouDean Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2011 10:16 PM To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FTM-TECH] Suggested entry fields And it would be nice to have a choice for when only one given name is used and you want it to be the middle instead of the first.
