I am working with several email cousins, trying to consolidate our information. Some of us have a ggrandfather in common. Others of us have his father as a common ancestor. I am working with FTM 16 on Vista Home Premium, and my question to the mailing list is this: is there a way that I can create a straight-line outline report from a specific cousin to the common ancestor. I would like to exclude, in each generation, those individuals who are not direct parents, grandparents and so on. I will appreciate any suggestions. Ed Broecker

I am NOT very familiar with Vista, but if you have a 32 bit version, you should be able to create a PDF file. If so, go to the ancestor, then choose View, Tree Charts, Descendant Tree - Standard. Choose enough generations to include the youngest generation person for whom you will create a report. You should now have a graphical depiction of the tree onscreen. Move your pointer into a blank space on the page, right click and select Individuals to Include ... and then select one individual at a time who is your intended person from the Change secondary individual ... box. As you do this, you create separate pages for each of your intended "victims". If you have the ability to make a PDF, then export it naming it as it suits you. [If you cannot create a PDF then you would need to install something like BullZip PDF creator - a program which creates what appears to be a printer which makes a PDF for you. It is available for FREE.] Does this work for you? John Okerson Memphis, TN
Does FTM 16 have a relationship chart showing the direct relationships between any 2 people?
