The user can control whether the Notes and Media tabs are displayed via an option in Tools, Options, General tab, Fact Display (bottom left). This has been around I believe since FTM 2008. For some reason, the default is set to not display them. Normally once you make the choice, the preference is retained in the User.config file and is normally passed to subsequent versions. Not a big thing. I assume the Tutorial simply did not have the options checked.
