Tom, And WHAT is the current relationship between the Siblings? What do you expect it to be? Setting the relationship to the parents (all of them), should make the relationship between them correct. I attempted to change some of the relationships between a child and the parents but regardless of what I changed that relationship to it did not alter the relationship between the siblings. e.g. I change the relationship between the individual and the parents to "Foster" but the relationship between the siblings remained either Brother or Sister. The "brother"/"sister" seems to be completely dependent upon the fact that all of the children are linked as children of the parents. Hi All, I discovered that you have to place your cursor directly over the Aa on the button. I had been hovering all over the button but not at the extreme left. Thanks for all the help. Tom Ithaca, nY
Book preview button at the lower left opens a new window, so even if the FTM window is visible, font buttons won't work. As Russ said, the Aa button should work. It's a tad confusing, because when you are creating the book, the center panel work area says "index preview" or "Title page preview" even though you aren't in the "preview book" mode. My great-grandfather John Gelchenor appeared with the John Herson family as an adolescent during the years when relationships were not part of the census. It did seem appropriate to me to add him as a child of John and Margaret Cunningha, Herson due to his age and due to the fact that I am aware of Gelchenor/Gelshinans being biologically related to another Cunningham. Once you have attached him as a child with the same parents as the other children, he is by definition the other children's sibling AND there is no way to change the sibling relationship. Tom, There is no way of making the SIBLINGS an unknown. This is controlled by the relationships to the PARENTS. By definition, SIBLINGS share common PARENTS. If you have multi marriages of the parents, then you will need to make the changes to the correct marriage, showing the unknown there as a child. Tom, One MUST wait long enough for the index to be updated and then the options is available. So the larger database the longer the wait is going to need to be. You will find that the TOC and Index both do a update each time they are each selected. This is the main reason I do both of these last, this allows for faster book building. Unfortunately, when I click on either button nothing happens. Any suggestions as to how to make these buttons work? Thanks, Tom Herson Ithaca, NY
Debbie, Do you Compact your file before you SyncNow? Today for the first time I ran into the error that was occurring with the earlier version of FTM where a sync issue would cause the program to shut down. Just like with the earlier version of FTM, the "Trigger" to the problem seems to be the fact that there were conflicts between the Ancestry User Tree and the FTM tree that needed to be resolved manually. When I first re-launched FTM, it gave an error message saying that it encountered a problem and Windows would shut it down. I re-launched it a second time and this time it gave a message showing that the program was not shut down properly and that I might need to compact it. I backed up and then compacted the file and then tried again to sync it. Once again the message about needing to "resolve conflicts manually" came up. I worked through this and the sync progress then continued and -- this time -- completed. It seems to be okay...... [or is it?] With the previous version of FTM there was a long, tedious fix that needed to be implemented and resulted in me having to unlink trees and re-upload and relink. Do I need to do that with this version? Or has that all been fixed? is there anything else I need to do or am I okay? Thanks in advance!
