For the reasons cited on my web site, they may be open to it. One thing learned in upper management is not to do things internally that are not your core competency. (outsource them!) Four years ago Ancestry/FTM bungled so badly by releasing an FTM program that mostly did not work, did not even have many of the features the previous version had. I swore that I would never run FTM ever again and spent four years evangelizing to my listeners about that. When they released the Mac version in December I looked at reviews and decided to see how they incorporated Evidence Style source templates. (not very well I found out! At least so far). But I found that the program otherwise was runnable. And salvageable, in my opinion, if they continue to develop it properly. But, four years ago, a genealogy program WAS NOT one of their core competencies (obvious to everyone who bought their piece of crap program at that point, and may only now be a tool to help sell subscriptions, in which case they should just get out of the program business, stick to the data gathering, may be happy to, and I've told them a way to do that. And a way that probably all genealogy program software companies would endorse if they get over the NIH (Not Invented Here) syndrome and want to stay in business for the long run. It takes forever to load my tree - I just tested it with my new tree, uploaded to Ancestry.com last week. Almost a half hour to download 9200 people, then another almost hour of "processing" before it's ready to use. I'm not sure if that's "normal", or just my tree. (I just tested with a much smaller tree (273 people), and the loading and processing zipped along.) The nice thing is the app syncs with your online tree when you open it. I never update my tree on Ancestry.com - I work in FTM and upload a brand-new tree periodically - but I can see how, for someone who does work directly in an online tree, that would be an excellent feature. Once it's loaded, the app's got a pretty cool user interface, easy to navigate, with sources available at a tap of your finger. 3. Ole, It accesses your online tree at Ancestry.com, and downloads it to your device. 3. I had a thought and switched out of Windows to MacOS. The normal method of saving(as opposed to merging) from Ancestry does not apply in MacOS and if you select Save you are told instead to right click. No save on SAR, yes, but right click still works. Doesn't work with Windows though. Tony On 01/08/2011 14:45, "John Boyd" <johnhboyd@earthlink.net> wrote: > 1.
