    3. There are some that were added before 2012 in 2011 but even some that I am adding now show the jpg icon. As for rearranging the thumbnails... In 2011 I could move them around all day. They would stay where I put them... not now... not a change I like. I have consistently used the method of labeling them as last name - first middle last This is to keep them alphabetically arranged in the media file. Any thing else I want to add goes in the description field I see the problem with the jpgs, when I add them it is putting them in the 2011 media file, so now what ... strange, I guess I will have to manually move each one and relink them... 3. To both Mary & Caroline, I guess I had just never tried moving any images! But I do see what you both mean. I would imagine that this was overlooked when FTM 2012 was in it's final stages before it was released and unfortunately this feature was left out of the initial release. Hopefully it will be returned to the program in a future update. I am curious though... what benefits does this feature offer? Is it only for viewing the images in FTM or does it benefit in some other way? 3. Mary, Have you tried to use the Find Missing Media option in the Media Workspace for those that have icons and no Thumbnails. It works quite well. I just did one on a file that had only icons for the images. All but two were found initially and running again resolved those two as well. 3. A way of sorting pictures by person and by date can be accomplished as follows: Caption each image with LastName MI FirstName Year Month The rest of the caption This causes the media to be sorted so that images are easier to find and sorts them by year and month of the image. Make sure that your format stays consistent. I would prefer a feature to be added for this to happen automatically based on person name and date of media. If you agree send in your enhancement request. 3. Hi there, A similar thing happened to me today with no maps on FTM2012 - FTM 2011 was ok - closed FTM2012 and opened again Maps ok, however it did tell me no FTM 2012 tree was available (nonsense) so I just clicked on one of the trees shown as it was ok. I also had to log in again.....very odd.... have to watch this FTM2012 very carefully Daryl from Oz -----Original Message----- From: ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ftm-tech-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Rosemary Jones Sent: Wednesday, 19 October 2011 2:19 PM To: ftm-tech@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FTM-TECH] No Internet Connection FTM 2012 Been there, done that. There are at least 3 of us with this problem over on the Family Tree Maker message boards that have experienced this intermittent problem. It seems to clear up by itself. Some sort of Ancestry glitch, I imagine. 3. Well, at least it is back working for me this morning. I think they may not have figured the load on their system caused by Syncing all of these trees. FTM does not even open the Dashboard this morning. BUT, 2010 and 2011 the Dashboard opens and logs in. Ancestry must be having major server problems. BUT, I can click on a "Hint" (leaf) and the 'About blank" opens and then the hint list is displayed. I am also getting the following when going to a Ancestry.com forum with FTM open. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- "It appears that you are logged in on another computer. We weren't able to log you in to Ancestry.com because your account is currently being used on another computer. Your Ancestry account provides a single-user license and can only be accessed by one person at a time." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- We ran into this during BETA and it took a day or so to fix. I went to firewall and specifically added instructions to allow FTM 2012. That did not help. I tried lowering the internet speed. That also did not help. I had to reboot to get access to the internet through FTM 2012. All of my other programs had their normal access.
