Syncing works for a week or two at most; then the sync fails. I unlink the Ancestry online tree, delete it. I then wait a day for Ancestry's indexes to update and then re-upload the FTMM2 tree to Ancestry. A couple of points: I no longer do any changes to my online tree; all work now done on FTM. Since certain data (URLs for instance) aren't carried down from online into FTM, and also since each online tree now only lasts for one or two weeks before I have to unlink and delete it, I don't put anything unique into it. The only reason I keep uploading the online tree is because I have the quaint notion that other people might actually find some of my research and photos useful. However, if and when I get tired of this merry-go-round, then I expect I'll ditch FTMM2 for Reunion. Like they say, all education costs money.
