Legacy reported 5 errors - 4 DoD as "died as infant" and one record that had a husband as female!. Corrected these in Legacy and exported a gedcom in the character set of UTF-8 (rather than the Legacy default) to a new Ancestry Tree. I then imported my Ancestry tree into a new FTM tree. I made a few changes to some of the place names in FTM and tried a sync. To my surprise it WORKED...... I then made many changes and linked records on Ancestry and it Worked again.
