As an example, try to change any place name to Alpena, Michigan, USA. Assuming you don't know the city, and want only the county. You will find that when you select Alpena, Michigan, USA from a drop down list, it will instead change your selection to Alpena, Alpena, Michigan, USA. Given the mass change capability, if you do make the change you can potentially change a ton of entries incorrectly. In addition, the program creates duplicate entries in the PNA. I have spent countless hours trying to correct these. Often with disastrous results. In some instances, hundreds of place facts were wiped out. Fortunately I have back-ups. The entire Place Name Authority is garbage, and Tech support agrees. They were able to duplicate the problems. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
