I just go back and try to correct the missing info where I can. I have seen lots of alternatives to merging. Some people put much of the info in notes. I would guess they cut and paste, but you'd have to ask them. Howard Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Syncing in general seems to work well. I am, however, getting fairly frequent sudden crashes, without any apparent cause. I noted under "citation detail" that not all of the information was imported into the citation detail, i.e., image number was missing and page number. I experimented with the 1920 federal census too and found that not all of the information is imported correctly. Are others finding missing data elements in citation detail when importing? Is it your practice to verify each import and then correct any missing elements? This seems like a hassle. Other ideas? Thanks! This suggests that the core problem of the Mono Runtime Library either cannot or has not been addressed.. As the program cannot run without Mono a patch is no good, only a complete rewrite. As for me, I REFUSE to have to create and use a new User account for FTMM2! Any app that requires that solution to work, is not ready for prime time...... not even close. What is needed here is an update that fixes this constant crashing and memory hog issues. In the few days I have had this program it has crashed so many times that I cannot even count them. And, it uses a huge chunk of my RAM, typically about 450 MB, as well as most of the CPU. I had great hopes for this update, too, but it has been a huge disappointment to me. I am in the process of trying to contact Ancestry's Tech Support..... and they don't make it easy. It is unusable for me so I'll continue to use Reunion until, if and when, they get this fixed. And I still say you should NOT have to go to such extreme, unreasonable, and irritating measures just to use this app!!! Ancestry should be ashamed to have shipped this app in its current ! state. If you upload your gedcom to the web Family Tree it will upload with no problems. Then if you download a gedcom and import that gedcom into FTM4Mac you get a file without the problems of spaces at the end of the gedcom lines. Now another problem shows up as you loose all of the spacing or hard returns so everything is one long paragraph and you have to go through and put the new paragraphs where they belong. It seems you can never win maybe in my next life something will work the way it should?? Roger Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. (Kind of sounds like an issue for both the Windows and Mac on-line synching) They're close to a resolution. Suddenly, virtually every displayed hint is either to a missing tree or totally inappropriate -- to totally unrelated families, usually to individuals many centuries older than the person in my tree. The Mac tree and on-line trees are supposedly in synch; the on-line hints are appropriate. Looks like a call to tech support is in order this morning. There was an FTM Mac file in that archive along with all my media items. That FTM file opened in FTM Mac 2 and updated to the new format. I then copied all my original media items to the Mac. After that I had only to reassign the media items to the proper files and I was good to go. Everything appears to be working and because the migration utility takes forever to run, I don't really feel like testing it any more for FTM. The reason I say the migration utility did not fail is because the result of the migration utility is to produce a file that FTM MAC 2 can then open. The file is produced without error from the utility. The problem lies with opening the newly created file. FTM Mac 2 gives the error message when trying to open this file. It says it cannot open it because it is of the wrong type or corrupted. I apologize for not writing down the exact wording. So whether the migration utility is causing the problem but not erring, or whether FTM MAC 2 does not properly handle the output of the utility, or whether my data is somehow corrupted, or all of the above is in question. Does that answer your question? Howard Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Do you know of anyway to fix the problem? I tried changing the gedcom but could not find a way. I thought of using the global spelling check which I need to do anyway but when the global spelling check finds the misspelled word there is no easy way to fix the spelling. You would need someway to highlight both the beginning letter and the rest of the word and then correct that. The global check will not allow that type of fix unless I am missing something.
