Are you saying that stories created on AMT don't transfer to FTMM? If I resolve the Place Names, and everything looks ok, would I be safe to link this new tree to AMT? You said something about uploading. I know that AMT is correct except for the profile snafu, so I am hesitant about "uploading". I don't want any compasses to overwrite existing stories or pictures on AMT. On my original download, the very first time, I had media in FTMM. It was when I synced that the media disappeared on FTM, so I'm not too excited about this being resolved yet, unfortunately, but certainly hope so. Thanks for all your help! I purchased it online at ancestry.com . If you like, I will test it as beta. The current support mechanism is not worth the effort or the time to help you resolve issues. I sent you a email earlier today with an issue just with the Migration, large database, etc. Right after that I did this: - Merged Rosa Kelley Born About 1916 with another Rosa Kelly. It appears that Rosa was living her Uncle or counted twice in 2 census records. - Next, I Detached Rosa from Jerome Kelly. - Next, I listed the new Rosa info under Lonnie Kelly. Found her. - When you select Rosa, you no longer see her parents Lonnie, etc. - If you select attach/detach you will see that she is indeed part of the Lonnie Kelly family. This simple operation worked under FTM 2012 in Parallels You can use the same db tree that I placed on dropbox to verify this yourself. Let me know if you want me to send you a dropbox invite or placed the 8GB FTM Tree w/Media on your site some how. I do not wish to spend 2 or 3 days on the phone jumping through hoops for every transaction in FTM MAC 2. You need to develop a better mechanism, e.g., process to upload debug info, along with logs, etc., otherwise FTM MAC 2 is not worth using. Can you see the images? I am guessing that the 26 "blue Safari compass" are Stories that you created in your AMT. You need to, if you want, categorize the Media Items. Now FTMM shows collection of media by category - are all empty; 307 media show under "uncategorized", 26 of these have a blue Safari compass as the "picture". A report showed individuals: 1726; Families 482; sources 3289; multi media 307; tasks: records 19262; errors 6214; time 00:00:25; rate (770 rec/sec). Something about even though some place names match a spelling...all flagged unrecognized until run "resolve all". I couldn't print this out. Author: rworthington Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/126.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Annie, The Feature for FTMM-2 that you are talking about is TreeSyncT. This is where you can Download, your Free Ancestry Member Tree (AMT) into FTMM-2. From there you can update the tree in either place and use the SyncNow and the two trees will be in Sync with one another. Why? I like to do my work on my PC. However, if I go on a research trip somewhere, I can still work on it while on the trip. I can also work on the AMT using the Ancestry APP for my iPad. But the real reason is that there are Charts and Reports in FTMM-2 that are not available in the AMT. Does that help? I have been building my tree(s) for about 3 years now on Ancestry.com. I feel I've pretty much exhausted most of the information gleanable and was thinking I would save myself some money and buy software for my Mac and cancel my subscription as I'm not adding much that's new. Some months I don't have any time to be searching, but am still paying my subscription. I realize this is a new software release (FTM Mac 2) and reviews and bugs are forthcoming. I have no experience with FTM (either platform) nor Reunion, MacFamilyTree or any of the others. 1. Can I upload my tree(s) from Ancestry to the software I would purchase/install on my Mac? Is this what is meant by "synching?" 2. If so, would my information be a mirror image of what I currently have built in my Ancestry trees? 3. Is there any place to view a demo of what that would look like? I'm so used to using Ancestry and FamilySearch. Trying to make a decision. Thank you!
