Hello everyone Have you noticed fewer emails in your InBox over the last few days? You may have been the victim of your ISP's block of RootsWeb mail, as I have been. Word is that all is well now. To catch up on what you may have missed, visit the list's archives. You may have bounced off very busy lists. Go to Password Central (http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.ancestry.com/) and complete the form to receive an email with the names of the lists to which you are subscribed. If you are a My Account user, you can sign in and see the lists to which you are subscribed there. You'll need to resubscribe to any lists missing from the email (or My Account). If you've sent messages to any list administrators over the last few days, the messages may not have been received so you should consider resending your message. Kind regards, Lynne

I didn't sync the citation media, but the tree data came through just fine. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Maybe try again later or tomorrow to see if things clear up. Do stay away from the Place Authority as it certainly has the potential to corrupt your data in a HUGE way. Author: gmcglamery Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/131/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just received my copy of FTTM2, installed it, updated it, and am trying to get it to sync with my Ancestry.com tree. After three attempts, both with and without media syncing, nothing happens. The progress bar jumps to the D in Downloading (about 25 % of the way) and then stops. A small 303 kB file is sitting on my hard drive and the online tree is locked when I try to access it. Each time, I throw out the old tree on my hard drive and cancel the sync online. The Web Dashboard shows that I am indeed logged in. Otherwise ... nada, nichts, nothing. I don't lack for horsepower. I'm running a Mac Pro with a 2.8 GHz quad-core chip and 7 Gb of memory under OS X 10.6. The internet connection is Comcast cable. Any ideas on what might be going wrong? By the way, I have the Ancestry app on my iPhone 4S, and it synced instantly and beautifully. As others have said, this is a poor attempt at commercial software. My recommendation to potential buyers at this time is DON'T BUY, DON'T BUY. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. For me, I generally use PC for anything other than Mac, and I have used both. I like Mac the best. I ended up purchasing and downloading MacFamily Tree for $27. I liked how this program has 12 years behind it and actually designed/written for Mac operating systems. I then uploaded my trees from Ancestry to my computer via GEDCOM (sorry if this is incorrect terminology) and then created new trees on my Mac from the GEDCOM files. I have had absolutely no crashes and everything seems to have copied over beautifully, except for the photos I put on Ancestry. MacFamily Tree takes some getting used to, just because I was so used to navigating Ancestry, but I have it open along with Ancestry to update anything/everything. Go to the Apple Icon, upper left of your screen and click it and then click System Preferences. In System Preferences find and select *Universal Access* (this is in the SYSTEM category) and click open. Turn ZOOM on and you should be good to go. Use the key commands (option and command together, and - or ) to zoom the screen in and out. This is something you can use TODAY. It's not a "fix" it's a work-around for the fields in the program that are enabled with custom font. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am used to going to Ancestry.com and easily increasing my font size with command . As I get older and more tired at the end of the day, the computer is hard to read. And if the font size is miniscule, then forget it. If anyone has a fix for this problem then please post it here Thanks Kathy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I wanted to also let you know because this one is almost funny. I have existing burial notes for a person and if I click on the line for that fact to male the notes active, and then click on another fact, the fact number increments by one. It now show 6 burial notes for this individual when I think it is only possible to have one. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I even have burial facts that show a one. These are facts that were ported over from FTM 2012 to the Mac 2 version originally. I have reported earlier that these counts do not work properly. If for instance I unlink a sex fact from a citation, then return to the PERSON tab the numbers for media are not reduced as would be expected. I have reported this. I looked at the Reports and find that the Notes Report, from FTM2012 is not there either. I think I knew that, but the Fact NOTES should be there. Please look at a couple of Person list of Facts. Do you see a number, other than 0 in the 3rd column of numbers. Not sure what you mean by "How do you leave the Fact Notes?" Do you mean leave the field? I click on anything outside of the field. And yes, those are the only notes I am "loosing". Facts that were there already remain there. Other fact notes do not exhibit the same behavior. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/126.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Many don't understand when you "save" a record from an Ancestry db (such as a census) to a profile in your tree, you're saving the link to the Ancestry.com record transcription, not the actual image of the document. When you ceased to subscribe to the Ancestry databases, those links go dead, the citation is still in your tree, but clicking on it will take you to the *subscribe now* page. If you re-subscribe, those links become active again. It should be noted, Ancestry doesn't guarantee all databases are for eternity. You should always download the images of the documents you want to your desk-top. Ancestry also doesn't guarantee is will maintain the on-line member program. Long time users of the site have seen programs abandoned, this is one of the best reasons to keep your data in a desk-top application. I've written a blow by blow of what works and doesn't when you ceased to be a paying subscriber on another board, I'll try and find it and post the link to it.
