    1. [FTM-MAC] One way sync only
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: roger_neilson Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/135/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Having spent a couple of hours on the phone with Tech Support I'm sharing this to see if others are having the same unresolved problem. If I make a change on Ancestry Web then it syncs to FTTM2 no problem. If I make a change on FTTM2 it does not sync to Ancestry Web. In all cases its says its synced, but the data does not change if its newer on FTTM2. Tech support seems at a loss to explain this. Author: colleenkennedy Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/132.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you Russ and HJC3HJC3, Yes, while on a call with Ancestry.com Tech Support I happened upon the same discovery, i.e., if one switches out of the Fact Note and tabs to "Family" the information in the Fact note is saved. Tech Support was very helpful and actually gave me the number of additional tech support assistance for my issue. I just haven't had time to follow up with them yet, but I plan to do so. When I do, I will post the outcome here. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm currently having email dialog with customer service about "Hints" issue. This is the current customer service reply to Hints error: "It is possible that the issue you are seeing is directly connected to the fact that there hasn't been a tree index on Ancestry.com for over a month. The tree index will update the searches on Ancestry.com to include all of the changes made. We should be seeing an updated tree index very soon, we apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime." I will report the Media Count issue tomorrow and report back. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I haven't had an answer yet, but last time it took over a week so I am not holding my breath. I don't consider making the software I purchased operate as documented without errors to be an "enhancement". I consider it a duty. As an example, try to change any place name to Alpena, Michigan, USA. Assuming you don't know the city, and want only the county. You will find that when you select Alpena, Michigan, USA from a drop down list, it will instead change your selection to Alpena, Alpena, Michigan, USA. Given the mass change capability, if you do make the change you can potentially change a ton of entries incorrectly. In addition, the program creates duplicate entries in the PNA. I have spent countless hours trying to correct these. Often with disastrous results. In some instances, hundreds of place facts were wiped out. Fortunately I have back-ups. The entire Place Name Authority is garbage, and Tech support agrees. They were able to duplicate the problems. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jackieschmidt1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/134/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have noticed on the Person Tab that the Media count column next to the Source count column mostly shows 0, even when there is media attached. If I open and close the source citation listed on the right, the media count changes by 1. Some of my Media counts are as high as 15 for 1 fact when in reality there are 3 media items. I didn't have this issue in FTMM1 and I really don't care that the counts off. I'm just concerned this could have a long term affect. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: photochromatic Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/133/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a 100 person tree on Ancestry which was synched to FTMM2. Today when I launched FTMM2 after about a week's absence, it no longer synchs with Ancestry. It is suggesting I upload my tree as a new one. This is the last straw. I have managed to work around and in spite of heaven only knows how many bugs and shortcomings in this software. Without doubt, this is the worst, buggiest and most disappointing software I have ever bought. Does anybody know how to get it to recognize my tree on Ancestry and sync again? Should I just give up on FTTM2 altogether now? Thanks Frustrated Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had tried closing the program and rebooting before I posted my query. I appreciated your reply. Luckily, I am only working on a practice file testing out FTMM2 for Mac before deciding if I want to make the switch from Reunion. I definitely will report this as a bug. Entering fact notes is a basic function, so obviously this needs to be fixed. Thanks again! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I would avoid using the place authority at all costs. It will surely trash your places possibly without your knowledge. The rest of the software is riddled with silly little bugs that make it very annoying. I still use it, but spend way too much time correcting database errors. Author: dietmar_morley Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/113.4.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Following my previous posts about how awful the 2010 version was when I had mistaken it for the FTM 2 version, I have now bought and installed FTM 2 as it has become available in the UK. I'm still annoyed that I bought the previous version when FTM 2 had already been released in the States, however, I did get a cheaper upgrade version that came with a free month subscription to Ancestry so I don't feel quite so bad! I only installed it last night and I have to say, so far, I love it! It is sooooo much better than the previous version. It is lovely having the software fully linked to my tree on the website and it seems to work fine. The information transferred initially very well indeed. Much more accurately than with the previous GEDCOM download and merge that I had to do with FTM 2010 for mac. The web interface seems pretty good too. Again much better than previously and I find it pretty much as good as being in the site itself! Time will tell I guess, but so far I'm impressed! Oh, by the way, I did install the upgrade that was offered after initial installation so I guess many of the bugs reported in some of these posts have been cured since the software was first released over the pond. Well done Ancestry! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
