    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: roger_neilson Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/135.1.1.1.1.1.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The number of duplicate trees is due to what happened when I tried to install on more than one machine. I am aware of that now and the duplicates will be removed when I get round to it. I understand you are being helpful, but the 'looking at the wrong tree' solution is not right. Myself and a tech support used the one marked S (for sync) for almost two hours and could not get a simple fact to sync from the Mac to the web. The fact is my own religion - which on the web is 'none to speak of' and on the Mac is Star wars...... This persists in not altering - and I confirm I am looking at the synced web tree. The tech support guy after two hours gave up. It work finem, as already stated from web to mac. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/135.1.1.1.1.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Russ, I'm not having sync issues. User created custom facts and custom citations may not sync. I've been attempting to make the point to less-skilled users with ACOM on-line Member tree program and the desk-top application FTM for Mac, they ARE NOT THE SAME program/application. Treesync (tm) has not made the program/application the same. ============================================ Roger Neilson, I looked at your tree data on Ancestry.com. See the attachment of what appears to be the problem. Multiple trees with the same data, same name = system and user confusion. I see the one tree that is treesync (tm) linked, is the last with the "S" at end. Without a clear articulation of what actions you're performing in sequence, your issue is as much a mystery to me as it is to you. Please explain what the purpose is of having multiple same on-line Member Trees. My guess is you're looking at the wrong tree on Ancestry.com to see the changes. One AMT to ONE FTM2012 or FTMM-2. When you want to create an AMT and use the Sync feature, then you can only do that from one computer. You can upload to Ancestry an Ancestry Member Tree, but not sync as well. Hope that helps, Russ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Your website is very helpful too. I've set up my db on Dropbox and it seems to be working fine. I am thinking that if I want to sync later I can move it to the desktop and work from that file. Do you think that would work? Im not ready to make my tree public so I don't know if there is much advantage for me in syncing. I do like the ability to download info from Ancestry. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rworthington Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/137.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: gathhompson, That is a very difficult question on answer. There are a number of features in FTM2012 that are not in FTMM-2. For example, between FTM2010 and FTM2011, there were 100 new "features". Most of them were minor. FTMM-1 does not totally equate to FTM2010, but it's close, FTMM-2 only added the TreeSyncT feature and the Blended Family feature. But, please keep in mind that FTMM-1 and FTMM-2 are new. One would hope that the Mac version catches up with the Windows version over time. Russ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.ftmmac/138.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Renuion is a desk-top genealogy application, FTM for Mac2 is a desk-top genealogy application. The Tree Sync feature of FTMM2 is to sync data between tree files created in the FTMM2 desk-top application and the ACOM on-line Member Tree program. If you're able to "update" a Reunion created file, stored in drop-box, an FTMM2 created file *should* theoretically do the same. All of a sudden today, I cannot open the software. When I click on the icon on the desktop, I get a message that 'You cannot open the application Family Tree Maker 2 because it may be damaged or incomplete.'
