Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gUX.2ACEB/264.1.2.2 Message Board Post: Hello Meg, Yes I am still working on family history. Thomas Fryer and Elizabeth Binns are my relatives and my information says that they lived at the Spout in Brighouse and Thomas was a merchant according to Baines 1822 directory in Rastrick. Thomas was a son of Dr. Joseph and Amelia (nee Dyson). So it ties in. I thought I had found your Nancy but it was Nancy Dyson who married Dr. Joseph Fryer's brother Samuel. Another Fryer brother, John, married Nancy and Amelia's sister Lucy. I have a lot of information on Fryers that I have gathered over the years. Much of this is from a book titled "History on Your Doorstep" by W. Newton Dawson published in 1973. There was a copy in Leeds Reference Library and a relative in England sent it out to me. I haven't found your Nancy, but I am trying to do an index of all my information so it may turn up. I have several large folders on my mother's ancestors who were almost all Quakers. I will send a message if something turns up. Can I give you any more information at this time? Regards, June

I had wondered what happened to Nancy Fryer after the 1841 census - now I know! I wonder though - do you know who were the parents of Thomas Helm Fryer, b.1846? He lived with his grandmother Elizabeth Binns Fryer - at the 1851 census he was described as her grandson (which given their relative ages I think he must have been), but in 1861 he was listed as her son. After that I have lost track of him. Jill

My Fryer line (for sure) is through my grandmother, Lottie Aspinall. This is the part I know. Nancy Fryer (1823-1870) m. Jan. 1859 (at The Church at Elland) Henry Aspinall (1815-1868).-I have marriage certificate and funeral cards to support this info..they were both buried at Rastrick Church. Nancy's father Thomas (manufactuer of Rastrick) and Henry's father was James (weaver of Rastrick). It is my understanding that Nancy was one of 11 children of Thomas Fryer and Elizabeth Binns and that they were Quakers who lived at the Spout in Rastrick/Brighouse. I believe that Thomas' parents were Joseph Fryer and Amelia Dyson. Does any of this tie in with your information. Thank you, Meg

This is so strange to me because my mother separated us from my father's side of the family and I have been looking for Fryer's. I hope you can help. Anyway, my grandmother was Creeta Curtis Simms and married Philip Ladru Hill. Creeta's sister was Jessie Simms who married Charles Fryer and they had Melville and Garland. I have pictures of their mother and father as well as the entire family - I just don't know the history. I have found two second cousins on my grandfathers side of the family but nothing on my grandmothers. We always wait too long to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3. All of the info we have on John and Sarah refer to son William. He was born in 1796 in DandridgeJefferson Co, TN. Saran and John moed to 1795 and are listed in the French Broad Baptist Church records of 1796. The 1800 census for SC, page 162 lists a William Fryer, who had to be a HH at that time. He could have been an uncle of William, son of Sarah and John. My William, son of Sarah and John had 9 children. I am a direct descendant of Richard Chamberlain Fryer, born January 31, 1821 in Dallas County, Alabarma. I wonder how we can check relationship of John Fryer b. c. 1765 and William who is listed in th 1800 census for SC. They could be brothers, or cousins. HERB HALL
