    3. Elfed! OH MY!!!! This will take a lifetime to use! What wonderful info. LOL I had gleaned this lineage from the books Bartrum wrote, but this will be helpful to check my old work and to be sure all the updates are there. I haven't searched enough to see we have data in the 1600s which is sorely needed, but I'm hoping if not, that it will come. So many of our ancestors are here and with great data. Any of you who descend from Evan ab Evan of Fron Goch and other lines which go back to his ancestors (Rhodri Maw, Llewelyn, Hywel Dda, etc.) will have much to do! LOL Enjoy and thank you again Elfed! 3. Elfed, Thank you so very much for posting this link. I knew that the library was planning to add some great information, but I haven't had time to keep up with it. Do you happen to know about Bartrum's last work? I know it wasn't finished, but I thought that Michael Siddon and the library were to put it on CD, etc. THAT is the one we all need so badly. If this is it (I've not used the link yet), then forgive me. It is so sad that Peter didn't live to finish the last section. I remember that he promised his wife it would be the last one...and so it was. ALSO, I know that I have ignored some of your requests...not intentionally, however. SO, please, please submit them again and I'll make time to answer. Life just gets too very busy here! Thank you so very much for your support from Wales. I do appreciate it. We must get together on my next trip there. I will be in London at the end of February, but have no funds to make it to Wales. I will attend the WhoDoYouThinkYouAre? Conference there. Do let me know if you have reason to make your way there. Best wishes, Emily If you do not hear from me in a timely manner, just write again...I was buried in email. 2. Emily, I thought you would be interested to know about the following which I have copied off the Clwyd Rootswebsite - my apologies if you know already. I have not tried it out yet myself . Bartrum's Welsh Pedigrees now online In September a new set of data was published online at http://histfam.familysearch.org/ which includes a database for Wales titled, "Wales: Medieval Records Primarily of Nobility and Gentry". The title is a bit misleading since there are individuals included from the mid nineteenth century. You can access this well indexed and referenced data by clicking on the "Advanced Search" link on the website listed above or go directly to http://histfam.familysearch.org/searchform.php and in the "Tree" field use the drop down arrow and scroll to the bottom of the list for the Wales database. The Bartrum Genealogies form the base data set for this resource with additional record sets added such as the Golden Grove material. Three highlights of this database are the great record sets it is built from, the great search features, and the source documentation. The data is being updated as time permits. Additions and corrections based on original documents are accepted. Darris G. Williams, AG Collection Management Specialist FamilySearch Best wishes , Elfed Owen.

    1. [FRONGOCH-WALES] Translation of Welsh Wills
    2. I am willing to try to help to translate any Welsh wills relating to Frongoch families. I note that Nathaniel mentions that the wills of Cadwalader Evan and Owen Evan (sons of Evan Robert Lewis) are in Welsh . If he is referring to the will SA/1671/93 - this will is in fact written in English but difficult to read and understand. This will mentions the administrators as - Gayner vch John of Llanfawr , (widow. ) Thomas Hughes of Llangwm, Denbighshire (gentleman) David Ellis, Cyffdy, Bala,Merionethshire (gentleman) The goods and chattels are left to Gayner vch John Sealed and delivered in the presence of - John Jennings John Evans Pk? Roberts Signed - Gayner vch John Thomas Hughes David Ellis Note; T.A. Glenn in his book "Welsh Founders of Pennsylvania" claims that Gainor John was the wife of Owen ap Evan although the will does nort specifically say this . The will of Cadwalader Evan is SA1688/104 and is also written in English and a transcription of this will can also be found in "Welsh Founders of Pennsylvania" I hope this helps, Elfed Owen (UK)

    3. Elfed, Many thanks for your offer. That is most kind. Even if the wills can be found in English and in Glenn's book, not everyone has access, so it still may be of interest to have them posted here exactly as they appear. 3. Thank you James. You are right. It has been quite dead. Many of us have our Welsh line back to Frongoch with no new news. Several have visited there. However, there are more records being placed online and even though many of our lines came to America in the late 1600s, it could help. If there is anyone who can help translate James' wills, please step forward. Once they are translated, hopefully they will be placed on this email list. If you go to http://cat.llgc.org.uk/cgi-bin/gw/chameleon?sessionid=2009102519054411200&lng=en&inst=consortium&conf=.%2fchameleon.conf&function=NOFUNC&sourcescreen=NOFUNC&elementcount=0&pos=1&itempos=1&skin=profeb, there are lots and lots of wills you can go through. So far I have found the wills of Cadwaladr and Owen ap Evan (Robert Lewis). They are photos that aren't transcribed and are in Welsh, so I can't read them. There are probably wills of your ancestors in this database I haven't found as well. Nathaniel James

    3. Thank you everybody for the welcomes and nice comments. Elfed, I looked for the will in the catologue on the National Library of Wales' website. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to see it because I'm in the United States and have no possible way of getting to Wales at this time. Thank you for informing me about it, anyways. I also forgot to mention that if you go to www.maps.google.com, you can see the same imagery of Wales as in Google Earth for free without downloading anything, just without 3d terrain. 1. [FRONGOCH-WALES] Descendants of Evan Robert Lewis
    2. Hello Nathaniel, Thank you for the latest information about Google earth - it will be a very useful aid to family history research in Wales. I am descended from John ap Evan who was the brother of your Owen ap Evan. 5 of John ap Evan's children emigrated to the USA and I am descended from one of the 5 children who stayed in Wales. You can see some of my mailings to this list on Frongoch - Wales L Archives starting in March 2007 I would be very interested in any information which you may have relating to the family of John ap Evan which has not been obtained from the following books- 1. "Welsh Founders of Pennsylvania" by T. A. Glenn 2. "Merion and the Welsh Tract" by T. A. Glenn 3. "Welsh Settlement of Pennsylvania" by Browning 4. "Historical Collections of Gwynedd" by Jenkins. Are you aware that a copy of Owen ap Evan's will is available at the National Library of Wales ? The list may be interested in a new book that has been published in Wales (in the English Language) called " 150 Famous Welsh Americans" by W. Arvon Roberts. It includes a section on Abraham Lincoln and his connection to Evan Robert Lewis. The book (ISBN 1- 84524 - 077-4) can be purchased through Amazon and other sources on the internet at about $24. Elfed Owen (U. K.)
