Patricia (Pat) Dawn Hotton Froemke was born March 6, 1938 in Denver, Colorado to Richard and Dorothy Hotton. There would be three more children born into the family: Dorothy Colleen, Richard “Dickie” Prentice Jr., and Richie Thomas. Pat passed away on Mother's Day 2012 in her home, surrounded by her children. Following High School, Pat attended Colorado Women's College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. In the fall of 1959, she began classes as a junior at Colorado State College, but only for a semester, as her mother had been hospitalized. Characteristic to her ever giving spirit she generously returned to Denver to help out at home. Upon her mother's recovery, Pat took a position as Assistant Manager at the Denver Intermountain Theatre where she met her future husband, Rich Froemke. Rich was a WWII vet who was a well known radio announcer in Denver. She and Rich were married two years later on February 3, 1962 at St. Martin's Episcopal Chapel in Denver. They welcomed their first daughter, Elizabeth, into the world in December 1962. In September 1965 their second daughter, Barbara Corinne, was born prematurely and lived only 11 hours. In 1966 Pat and Rich moved their family to Tallahassee, Florida. There, two more children, Andy and David, came along to complete their happy family. Pat worked as a church secretary for 10 years and then another 10 for the State of Florida with Police Standards and the Research and Development Division of the Public Service Commission. After officially retiring from the state, she discovered a new career in hospitality as both a hostess and manager with the American Cafe. Following Rich's passing in 2000, Pat, with her pioneering spirit moved to Big Springs, Nebraska to become innkeeper of the historic Phelps Hotel. This venture brought great joy, not only to Pat, but also to those who embraced her. Her early morning breakfasts and coffee were greatly enjoyed, and ladies from neighboring communities enjoyed many special Ladies Luncheons in addition to many other outings Pat orchestrated. Though her period as innkeeper was not as long as she had originally planned, her surprise pre-opening occurred when Big Springs was hit by the blizzard of 2000 and travelers were told the interstate motels were full. This opportunity to be able to provide refuge to frightened travelers gave her a feeling that her God had truly helped her find her place for this period of her life. In 2006, she relocated to White Bear Lake, Minnesota to be closer to her oldest son Andy and his wife Julia who are the parents of her treasured grandchildren. This family filled her life so full with precious priceless times together. She and the children became the closest of buddies. The thoughtfulness of David and Elizabeth made her feel so loved and blessed. Her family made her life complete. Though Pat enjoyed the many and varied jobs she held over the years, her true love was her family. Pat's passions were being there for her family, learning of her Lord Jesus and flower gardening. She once said “Give me an old dirt pile and I'll delight in turning it into a thing of beauty with God's help” She and Rich also enjoyed their evolvement in many Christian outreach programs including Cursillo, Happening, and especially the Kairos Prison Ministry. Pat is survived by her three children: Elizabeth, Andy, David; her daughter-in-law Julia, grandchildren Sydney and Holden; sister Dorothy Haldeen, her husband Harold; nieces Grace Brott, Heidi Haldeen and nephew Harold Paul Haldeen; brother Richie Hotton, his sons Seth and Aaron Hotton, as well as six grand nieces and nephews. Pat's memorial service was held in Roseville, Minnesota, memorials were directed to the Visiting Angels who provided Pat with love and care in her final days. Visiting Angles, 220 3rd St. suite 1, White Bear Lake, MN 55110. Her ashes will be interred with her husband's at a later date. by the way, i forgot to mention my blog post about it at http://aaronjhill.wordpress.com/2011/04/12/fromke-framke-froemke-frumpke/ ajh --- On Wed, 13/4/11, Aaron Hill <aaronjhill@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > From: Aaron Hill <aaronjhill@yahoo.co.uk> > Subject: [FROMKE] Fromke, Framke, Froemke, Frumpke > To: fromke@rootsweb.com > Date: Wednesday, 13 April, 2011, 4:50 > Noticed this message to me (from user > KarenGess46) at Ancestry.com.
Noticed this message to me (from user KarenGess46) at Ancestry.com. Hi Aaron, Don't know if we can help each other but ............ My great grandmother was a Fromke, daughter of Ferdinand Fromke and Louise Rade. The family came to America 20 Nov 1883. The family consisted of Ferdinand b.abt 1821, Louise b. abt 1831, Albert b. abt 1861, Ernestine b. abt 1865, Rudolf b. abt 1869 and Minna b.abt 1879. The ship was the Albano. The residence for the family is Pottangow, Pommern. Another daughter, Caroline came with daughter, Meta, about 1882. Caroline was married to Ferdinand Plinske. The families settled in Monona county, Iowa. My great grandmother, Ernestine married in Onawa, Iowa. Her first marriage was to August Plinske on 10 Jul 1886. On the marriage certificate her parents are listed as Ferdinand Framke and Luise Rache. She was born in 1864 in Ulingen, Germany. August died 29 Aug 1887. Their son Max was born in Sept of that year. Her second marriage was to William Koch on 23 Nov 1888 on this marriage certificate her parents are Ferdianand Framke and Louise Rade. Her mother Louise and brother Rudolf are listed on the 1895 census for Onawa, Iowa and also on the 1900 census for Onawa, Iowa. On the 1900 census Louise is a widow, mother of 8 children, 4 living in 1900. I found, who I believe to be their son Albert died 03 Nov 1886. He was a single farmer born Germany. So, I know 3 of the four living children; Caroline married to Plinske, Ernestine married to Cook (Koch) and Rudolf living with his mom. Have no idea if Minna is alive or dead or the names of the other children. I did note the Fromke families living in the Onawa area and wondered about a connection. Fromke is not that commom a name. I probably have given you more information than you want but if you have any connecting threads in your research please let me know.

Here's a Julius Fromke. (My grandfather's middle name was Julius.) This Julius was living in Williams County, North Dakota in 1920. He was born about 1865 in Russia. I just located some interesting records from the newly revamped (with lots of material added) FamilySearch.org site. One is about Wilhelm FROMKE who died 29 May 1879 in Danzig, Westpreußen, Preußen, Germany. Another record is on Carl Ludwig FROEMKE and his wife Wilhelmine LIESKE. He was born in 1831 in Buchwerder, Kreis Friedeberg, Prussia. She was born in 1835 in Samotschin, Province of Posen, Poland. (My great great grandparents are Carl FROMKE and Caroline RADDE, so anyone named Carl FROEMKE is of particular interest to me.) https://familysearch.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Province_of_Posen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreis_Kolmar_in_Posen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standesamt_Samotschin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standesamt -- Aaron
A news story from station WCTV on a new organic grocery store in Tallahassee, Florida includes comments from Bruce Fromke. "Costs to the consumer could be higher as well since a store spokesperson says organic foods can cost at least 20 percent more than conventional foods. But some consumers don't mind the higher price. 'Because I don't want to eat pesticides,' said Bruce Fromke who buys organic foods. 'I would just rather see people growing organic foods, more demand for that and more profit for organic farmers and healthier people.'" http://www.wctv.tv/news/headlines/New_Organic_Option_Opens_Doors_111881309.html
