I am looking for the burial place of Anna Louise RADTKE. Her first husband was named FROMKE. He died in 1909. She remarried a man named KECK and then again to a man named NEHLS. According to a tree on Ancestry, she died in 1956 in Princeton, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota. http://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LDMJ-TCS Aaron Hill Seattle
Hello Aaron, Some years ago you posted info on my relative Donald H Froemke and his military service. At that time you wondered where he was buried. His parents placed a headstone in his memory at Tahoma Cemetery at Yakima, Washington. However, I found this information today. http://thewoundingofcharliewilber.com/page_15.html <http://thewoundingofcharliewilber.com/page_15.html> http://thewoundingofcharliewilber.com/page_16.html <http://thewoundingofcharliewilber.com/page_16.html> It makes for interesting, but disturbing reading. We would all like to think that our fallen relatives have been appropriately buried, but war frequently hampers the best of intentions. In Flanders fields the poppies blow …. Not to get another debate started, but I am curious as to the meanings of ROBOTNIK and ARBEITER. These too must have had different definitions in the past. Thanks for any thoughts you may have. And thank you to everyone for the robust discussion on the meanings of EINWOHNER. https://www.geni.com/people/Carl-Fromke/6000000048252916830 Aaron Hill Seattle

Somehow I missed this from last year. One of my grandpa's cousins, a well known Christian author & preacher, died. I wrote him a letter a few years back asking about the family history, but he said that he knew nothing of it. -- Aaron DeVern Frederick Fromke, 93, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016. Anyone know anything about Everhard Ludwig FROMKE? He arrived via the ship Sophia at Castle Garden in New York City on August 19, 1845. According to the ship manifest he was born around 1819 and hailed from Lingen in the province of Hanover, Germany. He was a bookbinder who planned on settling in St. Louis. http://www.castlegarden.org/quick_search_detail.php?p_id=4687757http://www.immigrantships.net/v14/1800v14/sophie18450819.html -- Aaron Hill, Seattle
I’ve been going through the family tree yet again, searching for clues on how people I think may be related actually are. One such source is obituaries, which with any luck will mention parents and places. I have been hunting for volunteers who do obituary look-ups. North Dakota, where some of my Mom’s cousins lived, has a Public Death Index database worth searching, so I did, and discovered Julius E. Fromke.¹ He died on November 18, 1924 in Williams County at the age of 60, though no birth date is recorded. Doing the math, this means he was likely born in 1864, possibly 1865. Yet, I don’t know who he is, where he belongs on the family tree. Who are his parents? Where was he born? There are many unanswered questions. What makes this even more curious is that one of my grandfather’s middle names is Julius. How was Julius related to him? -- Aaron Hill, Seattle 1. Though a good resource, the North Dakota Public Death Index search requirements, methods of trying to prevent fraud, are cumbersome. http://apps.nd.gov/doh/certificates/deathCertSearch.htmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_County,_North_Dakota Originally posted on my blog, Aaron Hill's Notebook.http://aaronjhill.wordpress.com/2015/08/06/who-is-julius-fromke/© Aaron J. Apparently a woman named Debbie Froemke married a man named Christopher Zabel in December of 2012 in South Dakota. I don't know anything about her or her family. I am trying to document whatever I find on the Fromke surname, so that's why I post these to the list. http://registrychest.com/wedding-registry/Debbie-Froemke-Christopher-Zabel#.U2fiTBy86Rk -- Aaron Hill

Hi Aaron, Robert is from my family - his grandfather was F. W. Froemke who was a land developer in Florida (after a career in banking in Ransom County, ND). F.W. and Effie Froemke had 4 sons. The sons are in Military Men of ND, a WWI book recognizing military service. F.W. Froemke was my great-grandmother's younger brother. They both died at about age 52, only 2 years almost to the day apart of heart attacks. Robert had a brother Richard (Rich) who had a radio show on PBS. Quite a talented family.
