Happy Hunting Shirley List Mom 1 MAIL LIST MIGRATION: 2006-08-21 Mail List Migration on Hold We have run into an email delivery problem that affects our AOL list subscribers. In order to minimize the effect on AOL subscribers, the update of mailing lists D-Z has been delayed until the problem can be resolved. We will post an announcement here and update the schedule when the AOL problems have been resolved and we can begin migrating again. Thank you for your patience. RootsWeb mail lists will be moved to the new Mailman software starting Thursday, August 17. The lists will be moved in small groups, alphabetically. An email went out to inform list users of the change. If you have any questions, a list has been created list-update@rootsweb.com for discussion of the updates and answering questions during the transition. To subscribe to the list, send an email with the word "subscribe" in the subject line to: List-Update-request@rootsweb.com If you would like to subscribe to the list digest, please send an email with the word "subscribe" in the subject line to: List-Update-D-request@rootsweb.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 AOL PROBLEM WITH LISTS9: 2006-08-21 Our mail lists have run into an AOL problem that significantly delays and/or deletes AOLer's list mail before it is delivered to their inbox. It also could cause some AOL subscribers to bounce and be unsubscribed from their list(s). This is happening primarily with the lists from lists9 which has most of the mailing lists that have been migrated to Mailman. We are doing everything we can to work with AOL to fix this. Users should make sure all list mail that gets directed to the spam folder is marked "This is not spam". They should also contact AOL directly about the delay and deletion of their list mail. We apologize for the inconvenience. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 DIGESTS IN MAILMAN: 2006-08-21 The default for digests in Mailman is plain text. If you prefer MIME and your ISP can handle that, email the admin to 'uncheck' the plain text button for your subscription. MIME is not recommended for AOLers. Email the admin at: LISTNAME-admin@rootsweb.com where you replace LISTNAME with the actual name of the list. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11 Confused about the new registration?: 2006-07-06 The new registration is stage one of a process to integrate all of the programs you use at RootsWeb into one account. Although the My Account page lists all of the services you subscribe to, we have not yet fully integrated each service. For example, if you have one or more WorldConnect user codes, the 'edit' link in My Account will allow you to access the user edit page of each GEDCOM file you have included in WorldConnect. Mailing lists integration, however, has not been completed so although you can unsubscribe to a mailing list through My Account, you cannot yet change your email address for that mailing list through this new tool. When the new message boards are launched, logging in to RootsWeb will automatically log you into message boards. The old (current) message boards will not be included in My Account. We apologize for the confusion.
Shirley, I hope the changes will not effect the sending of this message. The Hoffman/Froehlich Reunion will be at the Brooking Park Concession Barn, US 25 N, Georgetown, KY, this coming Sunday August 27, 2006. The doors will open @ 10:00 am. Of course, this includes some of the Kenley and Friedly families. There will be new information on the history of the Froehlich family, as John T. has it "Straight from Germany". This should be exciting. There will also be an auction of articles you may want to bring and the food line should be open about 12:30. Please let me know if you need more information. Maxine Friedly
