Hello All! As I am sure you already know, the kids are back in school and there are lots of holidays comming up. This is a great time to get back into the swing hanging from your proverbial Genealogical Family Tree! What better way then to start posting to the list again? Even if you have sent the information that you have or are looking for before, post it again! There are so many new people joining every day that you never know just who is going to see that particular post and say HEY!, thats the person/ people I am looking for! Then what you have done is to meet a new cousin and wouldnt it be wonderful to have someone else to send a gift to at the holidays? If you were told stories about members of your family, post them, you never know when someone will say, hey I had family in that area, or maybe they can look back and remember that they were told that same exact story. Sometimes stories can bring people together when they dont even know the names of the ancestors that they are looking for. Dates, Places, Times, all of this can bring families together from long ago. For instance..You may be looking for Jane Doe from Statesville in 1864, but the next person is looking for John Deer from Statesville in 1864. Now in 1864 Statesville was a tiny town of 80 settlers, but Jane Doe and John Deer are related by being brother and sister becuase Jane had to change her name when she married Harry Doe 2 years earlier....get it???? We hope to hear your stories of Jane, John and Harry Whoever or just to see you ask if anyone else knew them! Until the next apple falls from the tree I remain your List Mom, Shirley Fergus shirleyf@intrstar.net Roots web List Owner for: BUTTERBAUGH, CHAFFEE, FINAN, FROELICH FYNAN, GUTLICK, JIRON, KUNKLE, LAYCOCK LOMAX, ORGEL, PASQUITH, POWEL, PUTERBAUGH WINGO Ancestry.com List Owner for: Butterbaugh, Chaffee, Fergus, Finan, Froelich, Fynan Gaskins, Gutlick, Jiron, Laycock, Lomax, Mock, Orgel Pasquith, Powel, Puterbaugh, Sills, Weaver, Wingo

I'm searching for information on a couple of family members who emmigrated from Harta, Hungary in 1912. Unfortunately, at the moment, I know neither German nor Hungarian. My grandfather, John Kuntz, born in 1909, and his uncle, Andrew Froelich came to the U.S. (with other family members) in 1912 from Harta. Apparently our family has a fairly thorough history in Harta, but I'm having some trouble tracking it down. I have some documentation I wrote down after an afternoon with great-great uncle andy before his death, that can provide additional family tree information, if needed. Any information whatsoever would be very helpful. Thank you. Dennis Kuntz
One of my ancestors Harriett (sp) DeGarmo married George Froelich in Rochester, NY in 1913. I've found George and Harriett in the 1930 Census with a son Gene Froehlich. The dates of birth given for George Froelich is about 1894, for Henriett as born about 1896 and their son Gene born about 1927. George's parents were both born in New York. Does anyone have information about this George Froelich? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Bill DeGarmo Wichita, Kansas
Researching Ida Froelich who married my great-grandfather, Isaac Weaver in Douglas County, Oregon. Shirley
I do have a "lost" George, b. 1793, but his parents were Johannes Froelich and Barbara Lohrman. Marge Green
There is a Froelich family in, I think, the 1700's and 1800's at Killinger's Church, Dauphin Co., Pa. I found them in the family search section of the LDS site. I don't think they're related to mine, but they could be. I haven't researched them. The Revolutionary War Associator lists in the printed Pennsylvania Archives, while not a census, is close to a census for 1776-1785 time period. They are lists of men in each township who would be drafted as/if needed. Besides Dauphin Co. I think there was a Froelich in Northumberland and/or Lebanon. It's been years since I took notes on this and they are buried somewhere, I know not where. I don't know if the Associator lists would include Loyalists or Conscientious Objectors. I do have some family with no further record. They just disappeared. I'll have to dig them out and post them when I have time. I forget how long I've been on this list, maybe about two years. I think we don't have a whole lot of members. I'm not the list Mom and I think we may not have one. It's still very much worthwhile staying on the list and sending your information. If someone does a Rootsweb search, your message may come up. Also, who knows, a member might be a cousin. I seem to get a message every couple of months. You won't be swamped with mail:-) We should have a roll call occasionally. I'm looking for descendants of Jacob Froelich (Frölich). I think I have a connection with your family. Believe me, I know how hard it is to connect FROELICH/FROEHLICH/FRALEY/FRALEIGH/ FREILICH and FRALICK families. My Samuel and George Fralick (father and son) families lived in Mifflin County which used to be Lancaster. I have a feeling that they may be Loyalists because they were mighty hard to find during the Revolutionary War and there were lots of them in the Lunenberg, Nova Scotia (I think it was Nova Scotia) area. According to my great grandmother who told my mother when she wrote a high school family history story (around 1933) the Fralicks (I am sure that it was Froelich to begin with) came from Holland to escape religious persecution. They could have been German since the area they lived in was heavily Pennsylvania Dutch, Swiss, or even Dutch. Mifflin County also has a big Mennonite community. My great grandparents left Pennsylvania around 1900 and moved to Mylo, North Dakota. There was also a Mennonite community there. I haven't checked my files but I seem to remember that I couldn't back much farther than 1800 on this family. Pecht was another name that has come up. Mary Pecht is supposed to be a ggg grandmother but I can't tie her in anywhere. Have you seen this name? I hope we can compare notes. By the way, there is a Meyer or Mayer, and a Wagner that is supposed to be connected to Fralick as well. Hello, I am looking for the parents of my Anna Froelich d. 1611 in Toess, Switzerland. She married Peter Haps abt. 1599. Thank you, Dena
Just got the Ancestry Daily News. I'm not a member but I usually check which new databases are free for 10 days. One on todays list is Church Records of Dauphin County, Pa. I know there is a Froelich family there because I run into them occasionally while looking for my Lancaster Co. family. I got 54 hits for the name Froelich when I entered it. They don't give you that much information but you would have the name and know to check the church records for them. The LDS familysearch site brings up Froelich's at Killingers Church, Dauphin Co. The Ancestry database search, Dauphin Co. Church Records (14 churches with record dates between around 1744-1844, but each church does not cover the whole time period), is at http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4934.htm It's free until Nov. 13. When checking databases try entering just about every conceivable combination that could sound like Froelich. I once saw a census record for Godlip Frocup (Gottlieb Froelich:-) I usually try c, k, ch, ck on the end and put various vowels and vowel combinations after Fr. Marge Green

I'm not the list owner (there may not be one) but I usually answer posts to the list. This seems to be a small list. I get a post every month or two. I suggest to everyone posting to stay on as a member. You won't be inundated by e-mail from it and who knows, the next post may connect with your family. There was another post not long ago that I didn't get a chance to answer. Sorry about that. I don't know about this family. I am wondering if they went to Ohio from Pa. There are several in Pa. and I think also in NY.. Mine is one of them, from Lancaster Co., Pa. Hi List, Researching my family has led me to the Froelich name. It begans as such: Mary Anna Heider married Henry N. Froelich (we believe in Ohio). They were marrie din 1868. While continuing my research, I found that Mary Anna's brother Levi had had a child indentured to him from the Children's Home Society in Tuscarawas, OH. The child was Robert Froelich. There begins a mystery. I have narrowed it down (based on dates) that Robert was the son of Henry and Mary Anna Froelich. Unfortunetly, the date of birth given in the newspaper posting of this indenture was the date of their oldest son William. I have no further information on Robert at this time, but William went on to marry Alverta Welty. Based on the conflicting information, was it really William who was indentured and the paper had it wrong; or, was it really Robert had they had a wrong birth date (by two years)? Any help would be appreciated in solving this mystery or in gathering any information on the other siblings of Henry and Mary Anna Froelich: Robert (1874-MO or OH), Harry (1876 - MO), Clarence (1878-MO), Julius (1870-IN) or Edward (1868-MO). Thanks so much, Bobbi P Bobbi L. Pohlman
