I have never known anything at all about my mother`s side of the family - I did not even know until recently that she had a brother and several sisters! I had used Family Search, and did find Frans Wilhem`s birth, registered by his mother in Amsterdam. But despite many efforts I could not go any further. From what you have now told me, I realise that I was asking the wrong questions. I thought that Johanna Louisa Sibjilla was Dutch, as my Dutch friends told me that it was a common name - but now of course I know she was born in Germany, and that she and Joseph met (I presume) in Amsterdam. What made Joseph move all the way from Lam right across Germany and right across Holland to Amsterdam I can`t imagine. On my father`s side they were immigrants too, from Ireland this time, so I have a pretty varied background.
